Military titles are the key that unlocks the improved Berserk (zerk) in Silkroad: four tiers running from Knight/Captain up to the max Count/Chief General, and each one enables stronger zerk pots so you hit harder and last longer in PvP and farming. This guide gives you every quest, NPC, coordinate, and item to earn all four, no filler. Watch the names: they change by race. Chinese characters start in Jangan and Europeans in Constantinople, but the steps are the same.

Title 1: Knight / Captain — unlock your first blue zerk

This is the first title and your gateway to the improved zerk. Once you finish it, you'll be able to use the grade 1 blue zerk pots sold by the potion NPC in every city. You get it by completing a chain of 8 quests that starts with General Sonhyeon (Jangan) for Chinese or General Ratchel (Constantinople) for Europeans.

  1. Military Test 1 — Grab the quest from General Sonhyeon (Jangan) / General Ratchel (Constantinople). Talk to him again as if you were turning it in and he'll teleport you to an arena. Survive 10 minutes (or kill the beefier Champion NPC in there). When time's up it teleports you back automatically; turn the quest in there.
  2. Material for medicine — Grab the quest from the same General. He'll send you to talk to the Exorcist Miaoryeong (Chinese) or the Sunset Witch (Europeans).
  3. Stone Beast's Bell — The Exorcist Miaoryeong / Sunset Witch gives you the quest. Head to the Jangan Cave and kill the Stone Ghost / Tomb Ghost / Tomb Spiritu; they drop an item called Beast's Bell (blue quest pouch). Then turn it in with the NPC Jeonghye in the temple.
  4. Spirit's Shell — Talk to Jeonghye again: she gives you a special item. Head to the Tomb, position yourself at X: 7175 Y: 309, right-click the item and a level 95 monster will appear. Kill it, pick up the quest object, and turn it in with the Exorcist Miaoryeong / Sunset Witch.
  5. Witch's Scroll — The Exorcist / Sunset Witch gives you the quest to go talk to and turn in with the Hunter Associate Gwakwi (Chinese) or the Hunter Associate Adria (Europeans).
  6. The Spirit — The Hunter Associate gives you 100 traps. Head to Taklamakan to capture the soul of a Niya General. Set the trap with a right-click, then hit the Niya General with a basic attack (without killing it) so it walks over the trap. It can fail or give you a Fusser Espiritu (useless): you need a Normal Spirit. Each trap can be used once every 60 seconds; if you run out, ask the Hunter Associate for more. Get back without dying and turn it in with the Exorcist / Sunset Witch.
  7. Piece of Spirit — Talk to the Exorcist / Sunset Witch again: she teleports you to a room with a monster in blue Berserk that freezes you (bring purity pills). Kill it in berserk, it sends you back next to the NPC, and you turn it in.
  8. New Power — Grab the final quest from the Exorcist / Sunset Witch; she sends you to turn it in with General Sonhyeon (Jangan) / General Ratchel (Constantinople). Now you have your Knight / Captain title and can use the grade 1 blue zerk pots sold by the potion NPC in every city.
Jangan Cave (B3): this is where the monsters that drop the Beast's Bell spawn.

Title 2: Baronet-General — unlock the red zerk

The second title enables the red zerk, one more step up in power. It's another quest chain that again starts with General Sonhyeon (Jangan) / General Ratchel (Constantinople).

  1. Military Test — Grab the quest from the General and talk to him again: he teleports you to the arena. Survive 10 minutes or kill the Champion; when it's over he sends you back and you turn it in.
  2. New challenge — Grab the quest from the General; he sends you to turn it in with the Exorcist Miaoryeong / Sunset Witch.
  3. Branch of Life — The Exorcist / Sunset Witch sends you to kill Goat (Lvl. 76) in Roc Mountain and gather ~20 Extraction of Mountain. Then go to the Yeohas in Jangan, select one (without killing it), and right-click the item: it gives you a branch of life. Head back and report to the Exorcist / Sunset Witch.
  4. Relic of Sun God — She sends you to kill Ishade / Hashade in Karakoram, near Hotan, and gather 20+ Sparkling Crystal (1 drops per monster; grab ~30). Head to Asia Minor, to Cleopatra's Gate, under the arch at X: -6935 Y: 1753. Right-click the Sparkling Crystal (they can fail; if you run out, kill more Ishade/Hashade). Once you get the leftover of the sun, return to the Exorcist / Sunset Witch.
  5. Spirit of underworld — Talk to the Exorcist / Sunset Witch: she teleports you to a monster in red Berserk. Kill it in berserk, she sends you back, and you turn it in.
  6. Another increment — Grab the quest from the Exorcist / Sunset Witch; she gives you an item to carry and turn in with General Sonhyeon (Jangan) / General Ratchel (Constantinople). Now you have your Baronet-General title.

Prerequisite step: Devil of Century (the Egyptian chain that unlocks Intermediate)

Here's where it gets serious. Before the Baron-Senior General title you have to unlock the Intermediate zone of the Holy Water Temple by completing the Egyptian Devil of Century chain. It's long but straightforward: gather-and-deliver quests between three Egyptian NPCs. Open the quest menu with H, the Quest tab, and scroll down to Devil of Century. If you've already done some, pick up from wherever you left off.

  1. The Suspicious Sacrifice — With Egypt Governor Senmute: gather 50 Decayed Chunk of Flesh from the Uneg.
  2. The Ceremonial Tool — With Doctor Renenutet: gather 50 Strange Decor from the Sand Raider and turn it in.
  3. His Protesting Son — Finance Officer Maneto gives you Deliver Maneto's Letter; turn it in with Governor Senmute.
  4. Stopping the Ceremony — With Finance Officer Maneto: kill 50 Uneg / Sand Raider and turn it in.
  5. The Missing High Priest 1 — Governor Senmute sends you to talk to Doctor Renenutet; turn it in there.
  6. The Missing High Priest 2 — Doctor Renenutet sends you to Finance Officer Maneto; turn it in.
  7. Berenice's Trace — Finance Officer Maneto: get 1 Torn Garment from the Tathen monster and turn it in with Maneto.
  8. The Heartbreaking News 1 — Maneto sends you to talk to Doctor Renenutet.
  9. The Heartbreaking News 2 — Doctor Renenutet sends you to Maneto; turn it in.
  10. An Ominous Sense — Maneto sends you to Governor Senmute; turn it in.
  11. Investigating the Strange Rumor — Governor Senmute sends you to Doctor Renenutet; turn it in.
  12. The Truth of the Strange Rumor 1 — Doctor Renenutet: collect 50 Dark Khepri Samples / Desert Bug Samples from the Dark Khepri / Desert Bug and turn it in.
  13. The Truth of the Strange Rumor 2 — Collect 50 Dark Sandman / Blood Sandman / Blood Hyena Samples from those monsters and turn it in with Doctor Renenutet.
  14. The Truth of the Strange Rumor 3 — Collect 50 Ure'uth / Mehen / Aker Samples from the Ure'uth / Mehen / Aker and turn it in.
  15. Deranged Mentuhotep — Doctor Renenutet sends you to Governor Senmute; turn it in.
  16. Proving My Abilities — Governor Senmute: kill the Unique Apis and turn it in.
  17. The Overdriving Heart 1 to 5 — With Governor Senmute, one quest at a time: kill and get the heart pouch (Sphinx Heart, Sekhmet Heart, Nephthys Heart, Horus Heart, and Osiris Heart) from each Unique inside the Holy Water Temple in Beginner mode.

Once this series is done, you can enter Intermediate mode of the Holy Water Temple to do the title itself.

Title 3: Baron-Senior General — gather the Ostracons in Intermediate

With Intermediate unlocked, the title is an Ostracon gathering chain inside the Holy Water Temple. Each quest asks you to collect pouches from a specific monster. Get ready to be patient with the last one.

  1. Higher Will (Intermediate) — Head to the Palace in Alexandria and talk to Governor Senmute.
  2. Power of Ancient Egypt (Intermediate) — Talk to Doctor Renenutet and turn the quest in.
  3. Ostracon of the Insect (Intermediate) — Collect 100 Insect Ostracons from Lightning Khepri / Demon Bug (Intermediate) and turn it in.
  4. Ostracon of the Warrior (Intermediate) — Collect 100 Warrior Ostracons from Mont / Keisas (Intermediate).
  5. Ostracon of the Spirit (Intermediate) — Collect 100 Fairy Ostracon from Heron (Intermediate).
  6. Ostracon of the Monitor (Intermediate) — Collect 100 Monitor Ostracons from Tel Basta / Bastet / Bast (Intermediate).
  7. Ostracon of the Beast (Intermediate) — Collect 100 Beast Ostracon from Sand Hyena / Chief Hyena (Intermediate).
  8. Ostracon of the Dead (Intermediate) — Collect 100 Dead Ostracon from Mummy of Wrath / Mummy of Arrogance (Intermediate).
  9. Ostracon of God (Intermediate) — Collect 50 God Ostracon from the Unique Sphinx / Sekhmet / Nephthys / Horus / Osiris (Intermediate). This one drags because you can only enter 2 or 3 times a day and get a maximum of 5 pouches per entry.
  10. Leaping Over Another Obstacle — Doctor Renenutet sends you to turn it in with General Sonhyeon / General Ratchel. Now you have the Baron-Senior General title.

Title 4: Count / Chief General — the max, in Advanced

The highest title repeats the Baron-Senior General structure exactly, but in Advanced mode of the Holy Water Temple. Same NPCs, same monsters, same amounts: if you made it this far, you already know the drill. Complete it and you hold the top rank of military titles.

  1. Higher Will (Advanced) — General Sonhyeon (Chinese) / General Ratchel (European) sends you to Governor Senmute; turn it in there.
  2. Power of Ancient Egypt (Advanced) — Governor Senmute sends you to Doctor Renenutet; turn it in.
  3. Ostracon of the Insect (Advanced) — 100 Insect Ostracons from Lightning Khepri / Demon Bug (Advanced).
  4. Ostracon of the Warrior (Advanced) — 100 Warrior Ostracons from Mont / Keisas (Advanced).
  5. Ostracon of the Spirit (Advanced) — 100 Fairy Ostracon from Heron (Advanced).
  6. Ostracon of the Monitor (Advanced) — 100 Monitor Ostracons from Tel Basta / Bastet / Bast (Advanced).
  7. Ostracon of the Beast (Advanced) — 100 Beast Ostracon from Sand Hyena / Chief Hyena (Advanced).
  8. Ostracon of the Dead (Advanced) — 100 Dead Ostracon from Mummy of Wrath / Mummy of Arrogance (Advanced).
  9. Ostracon of God (Advanced) — 50 God Ostracon from the Unique Sphinx / Sekhmet / Nephthys / Horus / Osiris (Advanced); same limit of 2-3 entries per day and 5 pouches per entry.
  10. Braking Your Limits — Doctor Renenutet sends you to turn it in with General Sonhyeon / General Ratchel. Now you have your Count / Chief General title.
