A password alone isn't enough to protect everything you build in Silkroad Latino. Two-Factor (2FA) adds a second key to your account: a 6-digit code that changes every few seconds and only shows up on your phone. Even if someone steals your password, they can't get in without that code. On top of that, several server features —like donating for silks— require 2FA to be active. This guide gets it up and running in just a few minutes.

Download Google Authenticator

First, install the official Google Authenticator app from the iOS (App Store) or Android (Google Play) store. This is the app that will generate your codes.

Google Authenticator on the official store: download it for iOS or Android.

Enable 2FA from the web panel

With the app installed, log in to your admin panel on the website and open the Account Security option from the menu.

Panel menu: go to Account Security.

Inside that section, click the Enable button.

Enable button inside Account Security.

A QR code will open next to a field for entering the 2FA Code. Leave this screen open —you'll use it in the next step.

Scan the QR and confirm the code

Now grab your phone. Open Google Authenticator, tap Add with QR code, and follow these steps:

  1. With the camera that opens, scan the QR shown on the website screen.
  2. The app creates a key and shows you a 6-digit code.
  3. Enter that code in the 2FA Code field on the website.
  4. Click Enable.
  5. If the code is correct, you'll see a message confirming that 2FA is now enabled.
Done: confirmation message showing 2FA enabled successfully.

How to use it and never lose access

Keep in mind how the code works day to day:

  1. The code is dynamic: it changes automatically every few seconds.
  2. Every time the system asks for the code, open Google Authenticator and copy the value that's active at that moment.
